ODIN CANINE SERVICES was formed in 1981 to promote responsible dog ownership. ODIN was called after John’s first Rottweiler called Odin The Great, who competed in obedience to Class B and was the first of his breed to compete successfully in agility.

John is a Fellow of the BIPDT, as well as being on the Board of Governors and a Director of the Institute. He was Course Instructor for over 20 years and Course Leader for 7 years.

John has been training dogs for over thirty years and has been involved in competing and judging obedience competitions, agility, working trials, KCJO, breed showing, film work with his dogs, the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, and had a regular “phone in” behavioural & training radio slot, with his wife, on BBC 3 Counties and is a regular at Crufts and Discover Dogs.

Barbara has also been involved in training dogs for many years, both in obedience and breed (showing regularly at Crufts) and helps John with the training and behavioural work. Barbara is also involved in training for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, as well as running regular agility classes during the summer months.

For many years, John was an assessor and advisor for Rottweiler Welfare and is also an Assessor for P-A-T Dogs.

John and Barbara provide a range of services and run regular classes at their venue in Little Horwood (near Milton Keynes) for all breeds of dogs of all ages from puppies through to teenage, adult & rescue dogs, from pet to competitive standard. We deal with all manner of behavioural & training problems both in our classes and on a one-to-one basis, either at our venue or in your own home. We have indoor and outdoor facilities.

Our classes incorporate training for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver & Gold levels.

John and Barbara also run regular weekend and bespoke Instructors and handlers courses and seminars, both at their own venue or at your club venue in the UK & overseas. We have regular visits from overseas instructors who wish to enhance their teaching & training skills. They also judge and steward regularly at dog shows.

John and Barbara currently share their home with two Golden Retrievers and a rescue Rottweiler called ‘Odin The Great’, named after John’s first dog (Jaxx is his pet name).
